An unscrupulous and untrustworthy conjurer and herbalist sometimes beholden to a small bounty hunter company that either can’t shake him off or can’t tie him down. Full of secrets and misanthropy, Raelta is insincere and malicious and would probably sell you to a cultist for a single millioncorn kernel for a laugh, then ask you for a favor after.

Lore
A refugee from Othard (origins in Skatay Range Mountains in the Arda Village and originally named Vidir), he was brought to Eorzea at 13 winters and indentured to an Ishgardian noble buying contracts of refugees escaping Garlean violence in exchange for their passage across the sea.Raelta was sent to the Dravanian Forelands to work with chocobo hunters for the Ishgardian war effort. He eventually cherry picked a new name from characters in traditional Coerthan and Ishgardian folk songs and stories.Picking up conjury out of necessity to aid his work, Raelta is also a very knowledgeable botanist and was a skilled apprentice herbalist in his village but is not as familiar with Eorzean flora.Completing his contract after some years, he fled the north with a bitter taste for Ishgardians (worse for Garleans). Eventually he fell in with the Balta Company, a small band of bounty hunters headed by the rava Ulfur Stalf, also known as the "Steel Wolf."

Raelta causes havoc for his captain as well as anyone unfortunate enough to fall into his path. He's a professional menace, enjoying making himself a thorn in others' sides and is known to be dishonest. Unfortunately he's far from antisocial and seems to regularly seek out attention and contact seemingly for entertainment to avoid being bored, much to the intense frustration of others. Never to be trusted with money but always seems to have gil and willing to gamble with it.Mediocre at conjury, he's a laughable mage but his botanical knowledge is surprisingly extensive. Many of his poultices are potent and on par with high quality alchemical potions and cures but he isn’t formally educated and is prone to the occasional mistake...often at the suffering of his comrades for being his test subjects as he learns through trial and error which Eorzean herbs and flora mix together effectively.Supposedly he will tell anyone who talks to him and asks the right questions that he’s looking for someone...but he never honestly describes who or why. If he has ever told the truth, no one could know for sure considering his streak of lies.Good with his words but falters with written text (secretly having only become literate in recent years). He has a slight musical talent, able to strum a pleasant enough tune on a small handheld harp and has a pleasant voice if you ask anyone who doesn’t know him personally. He only seems to know of Ishgardian and Coerthan folklore songs, particularly ones favored by younger crowds.Carrying a death wish but too stubborn to die, he seems to have little concern for himself and the only care in the world he seems to indulge is for his chocobo, Yulebelle.He's a surprisingly skilled rider himself and enjoys gambling on chocobo races (sometimes perhaps even participating).

Are you a fortune teller? He's always curiously giddy to inquire what the fates have in store for him. Maybe you know something or can reveal something about his own little mystery that maybe you don't yet realize...
Have you met on a job? The Balta Company hunts creatures, monsters, and men in-between for gil, it would be possible to have crossed paths on a hunt.
Does he owe you money? He probably owes you money...you could also lie and he might believe you. He owes A LOT of people money after all...
He spends a lot of time in dives, taverns, bars, and markets. You may have seen him around or have business with him. Business of the financial kind or personal kind, Raelta prides himself as the worst kind of businessman.
Did you catch his eye in the local market and he approached sweetly and slipped a stolen good into your bag and cheerfully alerted the local authorities? Did he run away along with you, curious what might happen?
Did he catch your eye across the bar? He's got a pretty face but unless you're new in town you probably have some inclination to what kind of menace he may be. You get the feeling he's a handful...Make eye contact anyway? Well, your funeral...or his.

Occasionally, in a good mood, he'll situate himself in a bar corner or comfortable bench and play a tune on a small harp and sing an old Coerthan or Ishgardian folk song or tell a familiar children's fairy tale. Maybe you stopped to listen.
Did you see him brushing out the feathers of his chocobo in the stables? Petting her and singing to her and making merry as though with an old friend? This may be the best chance to **get the drop on him **or catch him off guard.
He sometimes gambles on chocobo races and will sometimes participate in them himself. He's a surprisingly skilled chocobo rider.
Sometimes he's separated from his Company and working on his lonesome. He really needs gil, you look like you've got gil, or he learned through a grapevine or flyer that you've work for coin.
Maybe you vaguely recognize him from many years ago on a ship bound from Othard to Eorzea full of refugees? Or perhaps even...from Arda Village? No you don't.
Maybe you recognize him from the Dravanian Forelands? An awkward quiet viera of dark hair darting about Tailfeather? No you don't...are you still here??
